Our first trip out of the UK takes us to Brooklyn, New York, where Alec Ounsworth was given the inspiration to call his then unnamed band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. Ounsworth spoke to Pitchfork about some graffiti (see left and, as ever, click the thumbnail to enlarge) on a wall on Baltic Street, off 4th Ave:
We needed a name before our first show. We were coming back from our practice space and we passed a graffiti sign where somebody had written that. And we just took it, because we needed a name fast.
Following last year’s Some Loud Thunder album (currently available for under a fiver on Amazon), front man Ounsworth is expected to develop his solo work as Flash Python And The Body Snatchers before recording again with CYHSY.
